Giancarlo Salamanca Cadavid holds the position of Business Development Manager for Data Centers at Grupo ZFB, Colombia. He is driven by his desire to push the boundaries of digital transformation in this country, and he does this by spearheading projects that range from Edge to Hyperscale Data Center facilities. These projects are so compelling that they have convinced major industry players to select Colombia as their hub for expansion in LatAm.
Giancarlo’s journey in the IT sector spans 18 years, during which he has been instrumental in the inception of Multitenant Data Centers at Zona Franca Bogotá (Bogotá’s free trade zone). He has donned various hats, including that of a project director and business development manager. His expertise lies in bringing projects to life, driving their occupancy, and later facilitating the sale of stakes in these assets to investment funds based in Latin America and the US. In the previous year, he played a key role in the largest DC transaction in Colombia, which involved a prominent regional collocation DC player and a well-known US investment bank.
Giancarlo is known for his insightful views on a variety of subjects, including competitive environments, site selection, data centers, and data science/AI. Outside of work, he is a golf enthusiast who enjoys exploring different golf courses and immerses himself in the beauty of diverse landscapes, all while “chasing a golf ball."
